Patients are seen according to the seriousness of their illness.
The lab does blood work for the entire hospital. The maximum waiting period is usually between 2 and 4 hours.
Patients are placed on a list on a timely basis according to when they were referred, and there may be a dire emergency that occurs, and that patient may need to be seen immediately.
Only one relative or friend is normally allowed to accompany the patient. This helps to reduce overcrowding, enables the staff to move unencumbered through the unit, and maintains a safer environment for the patient. If the patient’s condition has deteriorated, a room is provided for family members and friends.
