FAQs

Visiting is facilitated between the hours of 11:00am-12:00pm and 6:30pm-8:00pm, Mondays to Saturdays. An additional visiting period is provided on Sundays and Public Holidays between 3:00pm-5:00pm.

Registration for voluntary service is done WEDNESDAYS, between the hours of 10am-12pm and 2:30pm-4:00pm. Registration is done in the Training Division, which is located within the Administrative Building. Potential volunteers are asked to take a valid identification card (Voters ID, Passport or School ID) with them.

Bills can be paid at any of the cashier stations located on the Hospital’s compound. Bill payment can also be made at the National Commercial Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia and the RBC Royal (Bank Jamaica) Ltd. Go to the Casualty Section of the Emergency Medicine Division.

There are two clinics: public and private. For the public and private clinics, pregnant mothers should come immediately after missing (2) periods. For the public clinic, registration is done on a Friday morning at 7:00am. Registration for the Private Clinic is done between Mondays and Thursdays at 8:30am.

Appointments can be made on the respective day that the clinic is begin held. The doctor will have to assess the referral letter (If first time) in order for an appointment date to be given. Appointments for the Medical Clinic can be made at the Appointment Office which is open during the weekdays 8:30am-4:30pm. See Clinic Schedules

Stamping of sick leave can be done at the Medical Report and Insurance Office. The office is open throughout the weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

The cost of a procedure can be obtained at the Customer Service window at the Assessment, Billings, and Collection Department or at any cashier station at the UHWI.

For admission, patients should go directly to the Admission Office or to the ward if they know to which ward they will be admitted.
